As some of you may know i’m part of the Residents’ Association Committee where I live. Over the last few years i’ve had to deal with Kilkenny County Council on a number of issues. The latest stems back to last June after we had bought some Neighbourhood Watch signs. We were told that if we bought them out of our own funds that the council would erect them for us.

Months passed, and then a few more months passed, and then a few more, until finally in January a Council worker came out to find out where we wanted the signs errected. I showed the Council employee exactly where we wanted the signs put, and what direction we wanted them facing.

I wasn’t expecting a quick turnaround, and was pleasantly surprised to see the signs being put up this morning. I should have known better. Out of the four signs only one has been put up correctly. One of them had been put up in the wrong location, despite the fact that I went out on my tea break and told the Council Worker to take it down and showed him the correct location.

Even though I’ve been promised that they will be fixed within a few weeks, I just can’t understand why they can’t get it right the first time. I mean how difficult was it to put up four signs in the correct way. They now have to assign someone to come out and correct the mistakes that have been made. What a waste of everyone’s time and money.
